The '''Assault Platoon''' is the primary platoon-level maneuver formation of Gondaran Assault Infantry. Built around four [[AV-35-C]] mechanized assault carriers, the platoon combines dismounted assault troops, organic heavy weapons, combat engineers, medical support, vehicle-mounted heavy machine guns, and platform-level technical expertise into a single offensive combat package.

Unlike Mobile Infantry platoons, which are structured for reinforcement, entrenchment, and sustained defensive operations, the Assault Platoon is designed to seize objectives through speed, shock, and concentrated firepower. Its purpose is to reach the objective under armor, dismount assault teams, suppress enemy resistance, breach obstacles, and hold captured ground only until follow-on forces arrive.

Command personnel are intentionally distributed throughout the platoon to prevent a single vehicle loss from disrupting leadership and control.

Command responsibility is distributed across the platoon's vehicles to reduce the risk of command loss from a single vehicle casualty. The Assault Platoon's four AV-35-C carriers provide a major portion of the platoon's combat power. Each carrier mounts twin 12.5mm heavy machine guns with 1,500 rounds of ammunition, divided as 750 rounds per gun.
Unlike conventional infantry formations, a significant portion of the Assault Platoon's combat power is provided by its assigned AV-35-C carriers.

Across the platoon, this provides eight heavy machine-gun barrels and 6,000 rounds of 12.5mm ammunition before dismounted weapons are counted.

This firepower allows the platoon to suppress trenches, bunkers, towers, windows, tree lines, light vehicles, and machine-gun positions before exposing dismounted troops. Gondaran doctrine treats the carrier weapons as part of the squad's combat power, not merely vehicle self-defense.
Each AV-35-C mounts twin 12.5mm heavy machine guns and carries 1,500 rounds per weapon.

These weapons are routinely employed against enemy strongpoints, machine-gun nests, trench systems, observation posts, light vehicles, and fortified positions before infantry dismount and assault.

Assault Platoons are intended to destroy resistance rather than absorb it.

Each AV-35-C carries three complete combat resupply loads for its embarked personnel in addition to the ammunition carried on the soldiers themselves. This reserve allows squads to rearm after repeated assaults, survive temporary isolation, or transfer equipment to another carrier if a vehicle is disabled.
A typical attack sequence consists of:

The platoon's vehicle resupply system reflects the basic Assault Infantry principle that soldiers fight from their vehicles rather than live from their backs. Individual troops carry enough ammunition and emergency sustainment to survive and fight if separated from vehicle support, while the carrier holds deeper ammunition, water, rations, medical supplies, personal gear, and replacement equipment.
# Vehicle-mounted heavy machine guns suppress enemy positions.
# RL-36 teams engage armored vehicles and hardened targets.
# GL-34 grenadiers neutralize trenches, bunkers, and covered positions.
# Combat Engineers breach obstacles and fortifications.
# Assault Squads maneuver through the breach and secure the objective.

Once resistance is destroyed and the objective secured, follow-on Mobile Infantry formations are expected to reinforce the position and prepare for counterattack.

== Operational Use ==
== Notes ==

The Assault Platoon is designed for violent, short-duration offensive action. In combat, the platoon uses its AV-35-C carriers to close with the objective, establish suppressive fire, dismount Assault Squads, breach obstacles, and clear enemy positions.
* Assault Platoons are fully mechanized and operate exclusively from AV-35-C carriers.
* No dedicated command, logistics, or support vehicle exists within the platoon.
* Command personnel are intentionally distributed among multiple carriers.
* Vehicle-mounted firepower forms a significant portion of the platoon's combat capability.
* Vehicle commanders carry pistols while mounted due to the confined interior of the AV-35-C.

The platoon is not intended to remain in static defense for extended periods. Once an objective is seized and immediate resistance destroyed, follow-on Mobile Infantry are expected to reinforce, entrench, clear bypassed positions, and prepare for counterattack.
----

The Assault Platoon's mission is therefore not to occupy ground permanently. Its mission is to break enemy resistance quickly enough that the broader Gondaran battle cycle can continue.

Assault Platoon

The Assault Platoon is the primary maneuver formation of Gondaran Assault Infantry. Built around four AV-35-C Mechanized Assault Carriers, it combines infantry, anti-armor capability, combat engineers, medical support, and vehicle-mounted firepower into a single offensive combat formation.

Unlike Mobile Infantry Platoons, Assault Platoons are designed to breach enemy defenses, destroy organized resistance, seize objectives, and maintain offensive momentum. The platoon is optimized for shock action and aggressive maneuver rather than prolonged defensive operations.

Organization

Element Quantity Personnel Vehicles Notes
Assault Squad 3 27 AV-35-C Primary assault maneuver elements.
Heavy Weapons Squad 1 9 AV-35-C Anti-armor, breaching, casualty care, and suppressive fire support.
Platoon Command Group 1 4 Included Above Vehicle commanders distributed among all four carriers.

Vehicle crews remain with their carriers throughout combat operations and are considered an integral component of the platoon's fighting strength.

Vehicle Firepower

Unlike conventional infantry formations, a significant portion of the Assault Platoon's combat power is provided by its assigned AV-35-C carriers.

Weapon System Per Vehicle Platoon Total Ammunition
12.5mm Heavy Machine Gun 2 8 12,000 rounds
Total 8 HMG Barrels 12,000 rounds

Each AV-35-C mounts twin 12.5mm heavy machine guns and carries 1,500 rounds per weapon.

These weapons are routinely employed against enemy strongpoints, machine-gun nests, trench systems, observation posts, light vehicles, and fortified positions before infantry dismount and assault.

Platoon Weapons Summary

Weapon System Quantity Notes
BR-35 Battle Rifle 24 Primary weapon of Assault Infantry personnel.
SMG-32 9 Three grenadiers, two combat engineers, and four drivers.
P-32 Service Pistol 18 Vehicle commanders, vehicle gunners, squad leaders, medics, RL gunners, and specialists.
LMG-39 4 Three Assault Squad weapons plus one Heavy Weapons Squad weapon.
GL-34 Problem Solver 3 One issued per Assault Squad.
RL-36 Anti-Tank Launcher 2 Heavy Weapons Squad anti-armor systems.
12.5mm Heavy Machine Gun 8 Vehicle-mounted weapons.

Vehicular Sustainment

Unlike Mobile Infantry formations, Assault Platoons possess no dedicated logistics or reserve vehicle.

Each AV-35-C carries:

  • Three complete combat reloads for its embarked element
  • Additional rifle ammunition
  • Additional machine-gun ammunition
  • Additional grenade launcher ammunition
  • Additional anti-armor rockets
  • Water and emergency rations
  • Medical supplies
  • Personal equipment storage

This arrangement reflects Assault Infantry doctrine, which assumes operations will remain within vehicle support range and prioritizes offensive capability over prolonged independent sustainment.

Operational Doctrine

Assault Platoons are intended to destroy resistance rather than absorb it.

A typical attack sequence consists of:

  1. Vehicle-mounted heavy machine guns suppress enemy positions.
  2. RL-36 teams engage armored vehicles and hardened targets.
  3. GL-34 grenadiers neutralize trenches, bunkers, and covered positions.
  4. Combat Engineers breach obstacles and fortifications.
  5. Assault Squads maneuver through the breach and secure the objective.

Once resistance is destroyed and the objective secured, follow-on Mobile Infantry formations are expected to reinforce the position and prepare for counterattack.

Notes

  • Assault Platoons are fully mechanized and operate exclusively from AV-35-C carriers.
  • No dedicated command, logistics, or support vehicle exists within the platoon.
  • Command personnel are intentionally distributed among multiple carriers.
  • Vehicle-mounted firepower forms a significant portion of the platoon's combat capability.
