Overview
The Assault Squad is the basic dismounted combat element of Gondaran Assault Infantry. Built around the AV-35-C mechanized assault carrier, the squad is designed for rapid objective seizure, close combat, bunker clearing, trench reduction, and short-duration independent survival if separated from its vehicle.
Unlike Mobile or Line Infantry squads, the Assault Squad is not organized for prolonged static defense or extended foot movement. Its primary function is to dismount from its assigned carrier, destroy immediate resistance, secure the objective, and remain combat effective until follow-on forces arrive.
Together with the AV-35-C's permanent two-man crew and the senior embarked leader acting as Vehicle Commander, the complete vehicle fighting package totals twelve personnel.
Squad Organization

The Assault Squad is divided into a command element and two four-man maneuver elements. This structure allows the Squad Leader to direct the fight while the Assault Team provides suppressive fire and the Breach Team attacks covered positions, rooms, trenches, and obstacles.

Tactical Structure
The Squad Leader controls both maneuver elements and remains free to shift between them as the fight develops. He carries a BR-35 as his primary weapon and a P-32 pistol for close-range emergency use, particularly when directing troops, handling casualties, or coordinating movement from confined positions.
The Assault Team is built around the LMG-39. Its mission is to establish fire superiority, suppress enemy firing points, and allow the Breach Team to close with the objective. The two riflemen assigned to the team each carry one additional LMG drum, ensuring the machine gun remains supplied without requiring a dedicated assistant gunner.
The Breach Team is built around the GL-34 grenade launcher. Its mission is to reduce enemy cover, clear interior positions, suppress bunkers, and destroy resistance that cannot be safely engaged by direct rifle fire. The grenadier carries the launcher and primary grenade load, while the two riflemen assigned to the team each carry additional GL-34 rounds for emergency resupply.
This system reflects Gondaran doctrine that the squad, rather than the individual specialist, sustains the weapon system.
Standard Combat Load
The following table represents the carried combat load of a standard Assault Squad. Weights and costs are estimates intended for logistical accounting.

Weapon and Ammunition Distribution
The Assault Squad carries seven BR-35 battle rifles, one LMG-39, one SMG-32, one GL-34 grenade launcher, and two P-32 service pistols. This gives the squad a combination of rifle fire, automatic suppression, explosive effects, smoke, and close-quarters firepower.
| Weapon System | Squad Quantity | Squad-Carried Ammunition | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| BR-35 Battle Rifle | 7 | 1,750 rounds | Ten 25-round magazines per rifleman, including one loaded magazine |
| LMG-39 | 1 | 200 rounds | Four 50-round drums distributed across the Assault Team |
| SMG-32 | 1 | 120 rounds | One loaded magazine and three spare magazines |
| GL-34 "Problem Solver" | 1 | 12 rounds | 9 HE/fragmentation, 2 smoke, 1 illumination |
| P-32 Service Pistol | 2 | 48 rounds | One loaded magazine and one spare magazine per pistol |
| Hand Grenades | 54 | 36 fragmentation; 18 smoke | Four fragmentation and two smoke grenades per soldier |
The standard grenade load reflects the squad's close-assault mission. Fragmentation grenades are used liberally when clearing rooms, bunkers, trenches, and fighting positions. Smoke grenades are carried to screen movement, cover casualties, obscure enemy observation, and support repositioning under fire.
Assault Pack and Vehicle Stowage
Assault Infantry do not normally carry full rucksacks during combat operations. Each soldier carries a compact assault pack containing enough emergency sustainment to survive and remain functional for approximately twenty-four hours if separated from vehicle support.
The assault pack normally includes emergency rations, basic medical items, spare socks, a poncho, an emergency blanket, signaling equipment, a small cleaning kit, and limited mission-specific supplies.
Personal campaign gear is stored aboard the assigned AV-35-C in individual stowage shelves or quick-grab racks. These spaces allow soldiers to rapidly recover their administrative gear if the carrier becomes disabled, mobility-killed, or abandoned. This system prevents the carrier from functioning merely as a locker while still keeping combat loads light enough for rapid assault operations.
Vehicular Resupply
The AV-35-C carries additional ammunition and supplies for its embarked squad. Standard doctrine requires the carrier to hold three complete squad combat resupply loads in addition to the ammunition and equipment carried by the soldiers themselves.
This reserve is intended to allow the squad to rearm after repeated assaults, survive temporary isolation, or transfer combat loads to another vehicle if the assigned carrier is disabled.
| Resupply Category | One Squad Combat Load | Vehicle Reserve Requirement | Est. Reserve Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| BR-35 ammunition | 70 loaded magazines / 1,750 rounds | 210 loaded magazines / 5,250 rounds | ~231 lb |
| LMG-39 ammunition | 4 loaded drums / 200 rounds | 12 loaded drums / 600 rounds | ~54 lb |
| SMG-32 ammunition | 4 loaded magazines / 120 rounds | 12 loaded magazines / 360 rounds | ~21.6 lb |
| P-32 ammunition | 4 loaded magazines / 48 rounds | 12 loaded magazines / 144 rounds | ~10.8 lb |
| GL-34 ammunition | 12 rounds | 36 rounds | ~18 lb |
| Hand grenades | 54 grenades | 162 grenades | ~162 lb |
| Estimated Vehicle-Carried Ammunition Reserve | ~498.4 lb | ||
The vehicle reserve does not include water, rations, medical supplies, replacement clothing, spare weapons parts, demolition stores, or other squad equipment carried aboard the AV-35-C.
Operational Role
The Assault Squad is designed for short, violent engagements rather than extended occupation. It is expected to fight within immediate support distance of its assigned carrier, normally operating within a limited radius from the vehicle during assaults.
In combat, the squad uses the carrier to approach the objective, dismount under armor, clear resistance, and rearm from vehicle stores as needed. If the carrier is destroyed or immobilized, the squad retains enough ammunition and emergency sustainment to continue fighting until recovered, reinforced, or transferred to another AV-35-C.
The squad's structure reflects Gondara's broader Assault Infantry doctrine: hit hard, hit fast, and preserve enough combat power to hit again.
Carrier Fire Support
Although not formally part of the squad organization, the squad's assigned AV-35-C is considered an integral component of the Assault Infantry weapon system.
The carrier mounts twin 12.5mm heavy machine guns capable of delivering sustained suppressive fire during assaults. These weapons provide covering fire for dismounting infantry, engage enemy machine-gun positions, suppress trenches and strongpoints, and support maneuver across exposed terrain.
Assault doctrine assumes that infantry, vehicle crew, and carrier weapons operate as a unified combat team. As a result, the true combat power of an Assault Squad extends beyond the nine dismounted soldiers and includes the firepower of the assigned carrier and its crew.
