Overview
The LET-26 Light Entrenchment Tractor is a towable battlefield engineering implement used by the Army of Gondara to support rapid emplacement and field fortification operations.
Designed to operate in conjunction with the CT-32E Heavy Tow Vehicle, the system enables engineer elements to prepare defensive positions and gun emplacements immediately following deployment.
Design
The LET-26 is constructed as a lightweight, towable platform optimized for battlefield mobility and rapid deployment.
The system is designed to:
- maintain convoy speed while under tow
- operate in rough terrain conditions
- provide immediate earthworking capability upon arrival
The chassis is reinforced for repeated field use and incorporates modular attachment points for interchangeable tools.
Configuration
The LET-26 utilizes a dual-function configuration combining shaping and excavation capability.
Front Assembly
- Combination bucket / dozer blade
- Used for soil displacement, berm formation, and surface shaping
Rear Quick-Attach System
- Modular attachment interface
- Compatible tools include:
- Backhoe arm
- Auger
- Trenching implement
This configuration allows rapid transition between excavation and shaping tasks in field conditions.
Operational Role
The LET-26 is deployed within battalion engineer elements to accelerate the establishment of defensive positions.
Primary functions include:
- Preparation of firing positions for the 56.25mm AT Gun
- Emplacement support for the 75mm Pack Howitzer
- Construction of hasty infantry fighting positions
- Formation of berms and protective earthworks
- Obstacle preparation and field reinforcement
The system reduces the time required for units to transition from movement to defensive posture.
Limitations
The LET-26 is not intended for large-scale engineering or sustained construction operations.
It is not capable of:
- deep trench network excavation without extended time
- large-scale terrain modification
- heavy debris or structural clearance
Its role is limited to rapid, tactical-level earthworking in direct support of frontline units.
Deployment
The LET-26 is assigned at the battalion level within engineer sections.
A standard infantry battalion fields:
- 2× LET-26 units
- 2× CT-32E Heavy Tow Vehicle
This allocation provides forward and secondary emplacement capability without compromising unit mobility.
Doctrine
The LET-26 directly supports Gondaran doctrine emphasizing rapid deployment and immediate entrenchment.
The system functions as a force multiplier for engineer elements, accelerating emplacement operations while preserving overall maneuver speed.
