Overview

The AV-35-T represents the tank-class combat variants of the AV-35 armored vehicle family.

Rather than fielding multiple independent tank designs, Gondara developed a unified armored system built on a single standardized chassis capable of fulfilling multiple battlefield roles through controlled configuration differences.

The AV-35-T system includes four primary tank variants:

All variants share a common structural platform, drivetrain, and turret interface.

Design Philosophy

The AV-35-T follows the Gondaran principle of:

System standardization over platform specialization.

Core design priorities include:

  • Single chassis supporting multiple combat roles
  • 90% mechanical commonality across variants
  • Simplified logistics and maintenance
  • Overbuilt drivetrain rated to maximum configuration
  • Modular armor and turret system
  • Field adaptability without redesign

The system prioritizes long-term operational efficiency over minimal production cost.

Construction

All AV-35-T variants share a unified structural layout:

  • Front-mounted engine compartment
  • Central turret ring (75mm-rated standard)
  • Rear ammunition and systems compartment
  • Torsion bar suspension
  • 6 road wheels per side
  • Wide low-pressure track system

The chassis is engineered to support a maximum combat weight of 30 tons, allowing all variants to operate within structural limits without drivetrain modification.

Armor System

The AV-35-T utilizes a modular armor approach:

Base Armor

  • Front: 25mm at 60°
  • Sides: 18.75mm at 20°
  • Rear: 9.375mm at 20°
  • Top: 12.5mm
  • Floor: 12.5mm center tapering to 6.25mm edges

The hull floor is constructed with a shallow V-shape to deflect mine blast energy outward.

Expansion Armor System

All vehicles are constructed with integrated structural mounting frames allowing field installation of additional armor:

  • 6.25mm standoff frame
  • 12.5mm external plate

This creates a spaced armor system improving resistance against kinetic and shaped threats.

Turret System

The AV-35 platform uses a standardized turret ring designed to accept a 75mm high-velocity cannon.

Smaller weapon systems are mounted using adapter rings.

This allows:

  • Rapid turret interchangeability
  • Future-proof weapon integration
  • Elimination of multiple turret standards

Amphibious Capability

Amphibious capability is limited to lower-weight variants:

Amphibious:

  • AV-35-LT
  • AV-35-TD

Not Amphibious:

  • AV-35-MT
  • AV-35-HT

Field testing demonstrated that removal of the turret allows the base hull to achieve flotation for controlled water crossing under engineering support.

Variants

AV-35-LT — Light Tank

  • Weight: ~20 tons
  • Armament: 56.25mm high-velocity cannon
  • Armor: Base configuration
  • Amphibious: Yes

The LT serves as the base combat configuration and is optimized for mobility, rapid deployment, and immediate combat readiness.

AV-35-MT — Medium Tank

  • Weight: ~24–25 tons
  • Armament: 56.25mm high-velocity cannon
  • Armor: Expansion spaced armor
  • Amphibious: No

The MT represents the standard frontline configuration after field reinforcement.

AV-35-HT — Heavy Tank

  • Weight: ~30 tons
  • Armament: 75mm high-velocity cannon
  • Armor: Expansion spaced armor
  • Amphibious: No

The HT serves as the primary anti-armor and breakthrough variant.

AV-35-TD — Tank Destroyer

  • Weight: ~20–22 tons
  • Armament: 75mm high-velocity cannon
  • Armor: Base configuration
  • Amphibious: Yes

The TD provides high firepower at reduced weight and is used for rapid anti-armor deployment.

Operational Role

The AV-35-T system functions as Gondara’s primary armored combat platform, supporting:

  • Breakthrough operations
  • Anti-armor engagement
  • Mobile fire support
  • Rapid deployment of armored force

Variants are deployed according to logistical availability and battlefield requirements rather than rigid unit assignment.

Summary

The AV-35-T system represents a unified approach to armored warfare, replacing multiple specialized tank classes with a single adaptable platform capable of evolving from light deployment configuration to full heavy combat capability.
