Assault Infantry

Assault Infantry are the premier offensive maneuver forces of the Armed Forces of Gondara. They are designed to achieve rapid battlefield penetration, bypass hardened enemy resistance where possible, and seize operational objectives deep behind enemy lines before opposing forces can reorganize.

Unlike Mobile Infantry or Line Infantry, Assault Infantry are not intended for prolonged static defense. Their doctrine emphasizes speed, violence, disruption, and operational momentum.

Assault formations are commonly used to:

  • Break enemy defensive lines
  • Exploit weak sectors
  • Capture bridges, ports, rail hubs, and airfields
  • Isolate enemy formations
  • Destroy rear-area logistics and command structures
  • Enable follow-on Mobile Infantry advances

Assault doctrine is built around the Gondaran military principle:

“Violence wins battles; endurance wins wars.”

Operational Doctrine

Assault Infantry are expected to maintain offensive momentum even under incomplete logistical conditions.

The primary doctrinal goals of Assault operations are:

  • Penetration — create openings through concentrated force
  • Dislocation — force enemy collapse through rear-area disruption
  • Encirclement — isolate enemy frontline formations
  • Operational Shock — overwhelm command response capability
  • Rapid Objective Seizure — secure critical infrastructure before demolition or reinforcement

Assault formations avoid prolonged attritional engagements whenever possible.

Enemy strongpoints are frequently:

  • bypassed,
  • isolated,
  • suppressed,

or

  • left for follow-on Mobile or Line Infantry forces.

Structural Characteristics

Assault Infantry formations typically possess:

  • High motorization or mechanization
  • Elevated organic firepower
  • Strong anti-armor capability
  • Integrated communications assets
  • Aggressive junior officer initiative
  • Higher fuel and ammunition consumption rates
  • Reduced long-duration sustainment capacity compared to Line Infantry

Assault units prioritize:

  • mobility,
  • initiative,
  • battlefield aggression,

over

  • long-term defensive endurance.

Primary Assault Infantry Categories

Armored Assault Infantry

Armored Assault Infantry operate alongside armored spearhead formations and mechanized assault vehicles.

These units commonly deploy using:

  • AV-35-C
  • CT-32
  • mechanized support carriers
  • armored reconnaissance screens

Primary mission profiles include:

  • breakthrough exploitation
  • corridor penetration
  • rapid seizure of crossroads and bridges
  • urban breach operations
  • armored follow-through attacks

Armored Assault Infantry maintain the highest operational tempo of all Gondaran ground forces.

They are heavily integrated with:

  • tanks,
  • assault guns,
  • self-propelled artillery,
  • and mobile anti-aircraft systems.

Airborne Assault Infantry

Airborne Assault Infantry specialize in rapid insertion behind enemy lines using aircraft or glider deployment.

Their doctrine emphasizes:

  • surprise,
  • disruption,
  • and temporary operational isolation.

Primary objectives include:

  • airfield seizure
  • bridge capture
  • communication disruption
  • anti-rail sabotage
  • rear command decapitation strikes

Airborne formations are lightly equipped relative to armored assault units and rely heavily on:

  • speed,
  • coordination,
  • and rapid reinforcement.

Due to Gondara’s limited strategic airlift capability during the interwar period, airborne deployments are considered:

  • high-risk,
  • strategically valuable,
  • and logistically expensive.

Marine Assault Infantry

Marine Assault Infantry conduct amphibious and coastal assault operations.

These units specialize in:

  • contested shoreline landings
  • port seizures
  • island assaults
  • littoral warfare
  • naval boarding actions
  • coastal breakthrough operations

Marine Assault Infantry operate closely with:

  • naval gunfire support,
  • assault landing craft,
  • and maritime logistics elements.

Marine doctrine emphasizes:

  • decentralized aggression,
  • close-quarters fighting,
  • and rapid establishment of beachheads before enemy reinforcement.

Because Gondara is a major maritime power with extensive strategic coastlines and offshore islands, Marine Assault Infantry are considered critical national strategic assets.

Relationship to Other Infantry Forces

Force Type Primary Role Operational Timeline Core Function
Assault Infantry Breakthrough and shock action Immediate Smash through enemy lines
Mobile Infantry Reinforcement and stabilization 1–6 Hours Entrench and absorb counterattack
Line Infantry Long-term territorial control Up to 96 Hours Hold and expand defensive control

Strategic Philosophy

Assault Infantry embody Gondara’s belief that offensive warfare must achieve decisive operational results before industrial exhaustion sets in.

Their doctrine assumes:

  • enemy confusion is temporary,
  • momentum is perishable,
  • and hesitation destroys breakthrough opportunities.

Assault forces therefore prioritize:

  • initiative,
  • aggression,
  • speed,
  • and relentless operational pressure.

Where Line Infantry represent endurance, Assault Infantry represent violence of action.
